Golf School Birdsfoot Golf Club - Freeport, PA
Recipient of Golf Digest's Best Places to Play, 4-Star Rating only 25 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh, PA.
Birdsfoot is the latest entry into western Pennsylvania's growing list of upscale public golf courses and the latest golf school location for United States Schools of Golf. Birdsfoot is quickly gaining the reputation as one of the Pittsburgh areas premier golf courses. The course was designed by Ault, Clark & Associates and built by the Williard Group. Birdsfoot has five sets of tees and some incredible views making it the ideal golf school setting for students of all abilities.
Golf school students can find birdsfoot trefoil throughout the course, although it was only planted on 13 acres that make up the third and fourth holes. The crop in that area lasted for more than 20 years, and the hay was transported across the farm to the barn once located on the site of the 18th green. Seeds falling from the wagons left a trail of yellow flowers from the hay fields to the barn.
But don't be misled by the gentle appearance of the wild flower, and don't be fooled by the natural beauty of Buffalo Creek Valley which can be seen from several tees. Birdsfoot can quickly turn into a championship test worthy of a tested, tournament golfer. It plays 7,047 yards from the gold tees. Move forward to the black (6,547 yards), blue (6,146) or white (5,686) tees and the linksland-style course can challenge a range of abilities. The ladies tees measure 5,232 yards.
